Rick ThompsonAnother race season is upon us. We had our first race of the Madera Speedway Pro Late Model Season this past weekend. We qualified 15th of 36 of the top stock car teams on the west coast, putting us in the middle of the pack for the split 125 lap Main Event. We started the first half of the race in 15th place and patiently worked our way towards the front. Our car was handling great and by lap 20 we were up to 9th place when we had to stop to avoid a wreck in front of us sending us to the back of the pack. When the race resumed we quickly started moving up and by the halfway break we were sitting comfortably in 7th place.Rick Thompson 2 hours later when the green flag dropped for the second segment we quickly started our way towards the front. We battled hard for the next 40 laps running in 3rd and 4th place. On lap 113 we were trapped on the outside behind a slow lapped car when we were spun from behind. We did a dramatic 360 on the front stretch but kept going only dropping back to 12th place. With only a few laps remaining we were only able to get back up to a final 9th place finish. I'm very excited with how our car looked and performed. With little to no damage to the car we should be back in April with a great chance at second televised win. Racing is a team sport and I could not compete without a ton of support from my crew and sponsors. Torco Oil has been a huge part of our success and I couldn't afford to run in this highly competitive series without you guys. Thank You very much

Rick ThompsonOur last race at Madera Speedway was a testament to our Torco SR5 Synthetic Racing Oil. It was 108 degrees outside when we took the green flag for the first half of our grueling 100 lap main event. While others were failing our Chevy V8 ran cool under pressure. In this nationally televised event we started 11th in a 23 car field of some of the top Late Model Stock Car Teams in California. By the end of the first 50 laps we had fought our way up to 7th place. Rick ThompsonWe pulled the car into the pits at the halfway break feeling good about our chances since the car was handling great and we had posted some of the top speeds towards the end of the run. During the break in addition to adding fuel, the only change we made was a small air pressure adjustment to try and remedy a loose condition on the exit of turn 4. The 2nd half of the race was tough. As always, the farther towards the front you get the harder the cars are to pass. Rick Thompson After moving up to 4th position we ran side by side for a 20 lap run with one of our strongest competitors who was running 5th. While we were able to hold him off, this fight allowed the front cars to pull away a few car lengths and leave us no chance to try for a win. While we feel we had a car capable of winning we just didn't have the track position to make a run for it. We are very happy with a 4th place finish and putting the car into the trailer without any damage is always a good night.
We could not compete without a ton of help from our crew and sponsors.
Thank You very much,

Rick ThompsonWe had a great race this past weekend in the Madera Speedway Open Comp Super Late Model Series. I started 5th in the 8 lap Heat Race and was able to battle up to finish 2nd. We had tried some changes in practice including softening the springs and raising the Panard Bar. The changes must have worked because the car reacted great to them, it was much quicker getting through the turns and we even picked up 200 rpms. We started 4th in the 40 lap Main Event which was started straight up, meaning that the fastest cars were in the front. The car handled great and we ran the fastest laps we have run all year. We were actually getting faster towards the end of the race and we were catching the leader who got out front early while were stuck battling traffic. In the end we had to settle for 2nd , he just had too much of a lead for us to make up. It was still a triumphant night because the points leader finished behind us allowing us to catch him in the big race for the Championship. We are now only 17 points behind him with 2 races to go.

I am very pleased and I am extremely proud of my team. Racing is a team sport and I could not compete without a lot of help from my awesome crew and sponsors.

Thank You very much,

Rick Thompson The 2015 Firecracker Race at the LoanMart Madera Speedway turned out to be a great race for our team. After repairing the car from a bad wreck the last time out, we were very happy to return to the track and capture the 3rd fastest qualifying lap. We only missed the 2nd spot by one thousandth of a second.

We started the 8 lap heat race in the 3rd spot and we were able to move up to a clean 2nd place finish. I think they call it a heat race because it was so hot, it was 103 degrees outside.

Since the car was close we made only some minor tire pressure adjustments before the feature race and came out very strong. Early in the race we clicked off one of our fastest laps of the year. Rick ThompsonWe were able to fight up to the 2nd place spot and held it for most of the race. The car started overheating towards the end of the race but even though it hit 260 degrees I gambled and stayed out not wanting to give up my 2nd place position in this double points race. Thanks to our awesome Torco Oil, the engine held up fine under the extreme conditions and we were able to finish in 2nd.

I am very pleased and I am extremely proud of my team. Racing is a team sport and I could not compete without a lot of help from my crew and sponsors.

Thank You very much,
Rick Thompson

Our Second Race of the season was a great success. After some minor chassis improvements in practice we were able to squeak out the 4th fastest qualifying lap out of 20 strong entrants in the Madera Loanmart Late Model Series.

The car was running great and we battled to the lead and stayed there for much of the first 25 laps of the 100 lap main event. On the long runs we were a little tight and struggled in the middle of the turns and fell back as far as 5th where we finished at the 50 lap race break.

We made some minor adjustments during the break and came back out strong. We were able to battle back up to the front and lead most of the last 20 laps. There was a yellow flag with just a few laps to go that we definitely didn't want since it bunched all the fast cars together on the restart. Although it was bad luck for us since we had built up a large lead, it was great for the fans because it set up an exciting race to the checkered. We ended up finishing in 2nd place in the tough field of cars. Even though I am very pleased with a podium finish, it was a heartbreaker since it ended on a photo finish. We only lost the race by .02 of a second which was about 2 inches on the track.

I am very pleased and I am extremely proud of my team. Racing is a team sport and I could not compete without a lot of help from my crew and sponsors.

Sincerely, Thank You very much.
